Air Fryer Tortilla Chips
One night for dinner, my mom brought home El Pollo Loco, a Mexican-Style charbroiled chicken fast-food chain. Their food packaging consists of styrofoam and plastic bags. Of the styrofoam are the hefty foam Hinged 3 compartment to-go boxes and cylindrical bowls for their sides. Both not easily recyclable, especially when they interact with food oils. I should write them a strongly worded letter about their packaging to see if they can change.
Less food waste means fewer carbon emissions. Fewer emissions due less weight that the Garbage trucks have to carry and fewer emissions from food. This is the fight against climate change.
After eating, we had multiple plastic bags filled tortilla, and nothing to eat them with. Instead of throwing them away, I made Tortilla Chips with an Air Fryer! I’m also going to reuse the plastic bags for dog poop bags.
P.S. Air Fryer is proudly bought refurbished as a mother’s day gift.
This recipe is not my own. It belongs to Crumb Top Baking.
This was my experience.
Tip: Don’t be like me and read the recipe thoroughly before attempting. I cut the Tortilla before brushing them with Olive Oil and it made my life harder.
I also didn’t have a food brush, so at first, I used a paper towel, then a tiny fork, and then I used a tortilla chip itself to lather the other tortilla tip. Why buy a food brush if I’m only going to use it once? No need for singular kitchen utensils.
1st Batch- (350 F // 6 minutes) Great Crispiness, no seasoning just olive oil
2nd Batch- (350F // 10 minutes) Over Fried- Seasoning, but probably needed Salt
3rd Batch- (350F // 5 Minutes) - Still Burnt
4th Batch- (350 F // 4 Minutes) - Good color, Maybe not Crispy Enough
5th Batch (340 F// 5 minutes)- Good color, and Good Crispiness
