An Update on "Dealing with My Fears"

An update on the blog post “Dealing with my Fears”

I watched a YouTube video about Remi and Alisha Marie influencers talking about when they first started out.

Alisha reached out to a company to provide gift bags for her followers that showed up to her event at the Santa Monica pier, but no one showed up. She brushed it off, it may have been embarrassing at first but she went with the flow and gave the gift bags out to random people on the pier. I applaud her for being brave enough to try and keep going. She wasn't discouraged, she continued and persisted. Now she has millions of followers and hundreds of people that can fill up a convention room.

In another tweet that went viral recently, a book author tweeted that only 2 people showed up to her book signing. She felt shame, but a whole lot of other major authors chimed in and mentioned how little to no people have attended their book signings as well.

It goes to show that even these accomplished authors and influencers have gone through phases where no one showed up.

It’s not the end of the world, and you just keep going.

A part of me feels like I know what to do to play the game of social media, but I value my privacy a lot.

I would love to keep posting about the parts of the environmental movement that excite me. Food waste with a local group like LA compost, and environmental technology like The Ocean Cleanup.

A Poem
Finding my way back from burnout
Self-conscious about speaking and words
I don’t think my imposter syndrome will ever go away.
The syndrome is deeply rooted in the feeling of hypocrisy.
