Thoughts on Change (to fix Systemic Racism and the Climate Crisis)

There’s something I have to get off my chest in regards to humanity and change.

We need to change to solve systemic racism and climate crisis. People need to wake up to the injustices, the numbers, the science, and the destruction. We need to stay informed, take action, and make the change.

If we want to solve climate change, policies need to change and people need to make huge behavioral changes. If we want to solve systemic racism, we need to reassess and restructure the whole system.

I see two issues on change.

  1. Most people don’t change unless it affects them or their inner circle.

We need solidarity to fix these issues. How big is your circle? What will call you into action?

  2. Big changes within human behavior don’t happen unless something dramatic happens.

It’s not until horrific disastrous events happen, do people break from their routine and do something different. People have become desensitized to the news and developed short attention spans. A few weeks later a new story is capturing our attention, we forget what we’re fighting for. We must stay angry, we must stay focus on change.

People get complacent, but change is necessary to adapt. Change is the only constant thing. Climate is changing, it’s happening whether we like it or not.

What are your thoughts? Do you disagree with me?
